Tayamika Kamwanja Zabula joined the Department of Economics in August 2014, she is currently completing her PhD at the University of LeicesterTayamika's research interests are in the areas of development economics and applied microeconometrics, with a particular focus on financial inclusion. Her current work is on the benefits of simple financial innovations such as mobile money and digital government transfers. She has also worked on the political economy of agricultural input subsidies such as the farm input subsidy program in Malawi. Her research has been recognised internationally with reputable organisations such Partnership of Economic policy (PEP), where her research grant had to do with mobile money and financial inclusion
